The 6-passenger Wine & Water offers private charter cruises on the beautiful
Canal de Bourgogne in the heart of the Southern Burgundy wine region. It has
one large suite and two cabins, all with twin beds or queen bed and an ensuite
bathroom with walk-in shower. The salon design incorporates high ceilings and
large windows with plenty of natural light and panoramic views of the canal
along with leather sofas, a dining area, and bar. The huge sun deck is perfect
for relaxing in the sun loungers and jacuzzi or for alfresco dining.
Your gourmet meals are prepared on board by your private chef, except for one
dinner in a gourmet Château restaurant and one in a typical Burgundian
restaurant in a famous wine village.
Your English speaking crew includes the owners on board, Captain Max Renau and
his wife Bea as manager/hostess. Max has more than 30 years experience in the
French and European waterways and will share his knowledge with you also as your
tour guide. The cruise highlights will include private wine tastings in world
famous Burgundian wine cellars, a visit to the famous wine town of Beaune with
its antique shops, and the world famous medieval hospital "Hospice de Beaune, "
as well as a guided tour of Dijon and its famous covered market.

barges we offer in Southern Burgundy.

Sunday - Fleurey-sur-Ouche - only a 10-minute drive from the City of
Guests are met at the designated meeting point either at the Dijon train station
or hotel in Dijon, transferred to where the boat is moored up by the boat's
air-conditioned minibus. A warm welcome aboard awaits you by the 4 members of
crew, with a Burgundy welcome KIR Royal, the perfect start to a unique and
memorable few days in Burgundy. Your first candlelit dinner on board the barge
will mark your introduction to seasonal regional specialities and the wines of
Monday - Fleurey-sur-Ouche to Gissey-sur-Ouche
Cruise in the morning, after lunch on board Wine&Water, a drive out with the air
conditioned minivan to Château du Clos de Vougeot, a stunning symbol of
Burgundy's wine history and attracts lovers of history, architecture. Afterwards
you will drive to the renowned village of Gevrey Chambertin for a reserved
private wine tasting. Dinner on board.
Tuesday - Stay overnight at Gissey-sur-Ouche
No cruising today. There is a full day's visit with 2 private wine tastings and
lunch at a restaurant in a famous wine village on the outskirts of Beaune where
you will again taste wines, after a visit to the famous wine town of Beaune,
where there is a 15th century medieval hospital. You'll also have time to wander
around the town center and view the boutiques, cafés and other sites
along the cobbled streets. Dinner on board.
Wednesday - Gissey-sur-Ouche to Pont d'Ouche
Today is the lazy day for you, with lunch on board, cruising, relaxing, at the
same time enjoying the Captain's different wines from the barge's cellar and
delicious seasonal food. Dinner tonight will be reserved for you in a nearby
17th century castle built in an old monastery.
Thursday - Pont d'Ouche to Vandenesse-en-Auxois
Cruise in the morning, then after lunch at around 15:00hrs a visit to a medieval
village, Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, one of the last remaining examples of 14th
century Burgundian military architecture. During the Hundred Years War, towers
and curtain walls were built to defend the village. It's easy to imagine the
history of this once prosperous borough; if you are curious and look around
carefully you will see houses with pediments and stair turrets.
Friday - Vandenesse-en-Auxois to Escommes
Cruise in the morning to the summit of the canal. After lunch a drive to a
charming little wine-producing family, where a local wine producer will greet
you. You will learn more about the wine making process and enjoy a tasting of
local wines. Farewell dinner aboard the hotel barge Wine & Water
Saturday - Day of departure
After breakfast before 10:00hrs or earlier, we will drive you back to the Dijon
train station to catch your train or to your hotel in Dijon or to a car rental

On board Wine&Water we like you to take the time to enjoy your breakfast either
in the dining/lounge area or during the summer outside on our spacious sun deck
to recharge yourself for a memorable day ahead of you.
Along with the fresh morning juices, selection of different coffees, teas, hot
chocolate, our rich buffet offers a wide selection of specialties that vary
every day, such as the local fresh baguettes, croissants, pastrys, a nearby farm
delivers us natural/fruit yoghurts, milk, hard cheeses, fresh fruit salad,
cereals, poached eggs with a local smoked ham.
Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10:30am.
Luncheon buffet on board Wine & Water features hot and cold dishes, meats,
salads,cheeses, fruit, dessert.
Each evening enjoy a 4-course meal using fresh seasonal ingredients, herbs and
use of local produce.
Our Burgundy wines come from the golden slopes of the Côte d'Or. They

The trip was exceptional, even more that we had anticipated. The high points
were the meals on the deck (we had wonderful weather, even including a
cloudburst at the end of one dinner) and interaction with the crew. The calmness
and beauty of the canal - the trees and birds - and the ability to get on and
off the barge to walk along the edge of the canal. The experience of going
through the locks. And just sitting on the barge and taking it all in.

Superb adventure in every way. Our suite was excellent. The service was top

Our first barge trip. We can't imagine how it could be any better. Meals and
wines were better than what was expected. New chef, Selby, did some wonderful
things that brought raves from the group. Wines got better through the week. We
cruised on a beautiful canal, but our only barge trip so nothing to compare it
to. High points were great food, camaraderie, happy crew, and good friends to
enjoy it all with. Max and Bea are fabulous hosts of the area, experts of
Burgundy wine, and barging. We will return every year if we win the lottery.

This was my first barge trip, My wife had completed one 11 years earlier on
Canal de Midi. Both of us thought that W&W is an exceptional barge experience.
The warmth and genuine feeling of being welcomed by Bea and Max was
extraordinary. The food was outstanding as were the wines (and the copious
amounts of same). The physical layout of the barge was terrific as it allowed
for room to have self time without feeling as if you were actually on a barge.
Max's knowledge of the wineries and the historical information of the area made
the excursions all the better. Max & Bea made for a trip that could only cause
us to title it "We Were Spoiled Beyond Belief". Shelby did an outstanding job of
cooking amazing meals that were tailored to our taste and desires of the day.
Over the top would be a good title for the service onboard W&W. The meals and
wines were excellent all the way around. Every morning there was fresh bread and
croissants with yummy preserves, local honey fresh fruit and juice...lunches
were wonderful with local cured meats and pates, salads, and wines. Dinners were
gourmet treats... we had rabbit one night, scallops, lamb, all served with
excellents sides. Selby is an amazing chef and accommodated us very well!! One
night we even had some fresh sauteed fois gras... need we say more?? and again
delicious wines flowing all the while...and then there were the desserts.....
While life on the barge was unbelievable, one did need to get a touch of reality
now and again. The excursions were very good and Max was a font of information
in all cases. I personally found the wine/vineyard excursions the most
informative. Historically, the trip to Beaune and Dijon were quite enlightening.
I would highly recommend that barge goers participate in Max's trip.
