Special Places Travel Logo. EMAIL: info@specialplacestravel.com or PHONE: 1-877-642-2743 (001.443.321.3614 outside US/Canada).A new addition for 2016! The 4-passenger Louisa offers 3 or 4 night charter cruises in the Carcassonne area for those interested in less than the usual one week cruise. For 2017 the Louisa will also be offering 6-night cruises. Your British hosts and the owners on board are David and Jenny Tremain, who will be your captain and chef. After offering day cruises in England for several years, they have moved to France and refitted the Louisa to the highest standards in their desire to create a warm, relaxed atmosphere, fine dining, excellent service, and a cruise experience to remember. We visited the barge and met David and Jenny in September 2015 and think they offer a great alternative for an all-inclusive, full board barge cruise on the beautiful Canal du Midi, whether for 3, 4 or 6 nights.

Louisa has two well-appointed, air-conditioned cabins, one with a king size bed and one with twin beds, both with an ensuite bathroom with shower. The open concept kitchen, salon and dining area is bright and airy with large opening windows. The salon has comfortable seating as well as a TV, music and games for relaxing indoors. Meals are normally taken on deck, which has a large canopy over the dining table, as well as sun loungers. There is also a covered wheelhouse with comfortable seating for watching the canal move slowly past.

Louisa's 3 and 4 night cruises on the Canal du Midi run east and west of the old walled city of Carcassonne with an excursion to Carcassonne as well as wine tasting at a local vineyard and a visit to an olive oil plant in the old port of Trebes. For those interested in a 4-night cruise there will be an extra excursion to Castelnaudary, home to the largest basin on the canal and the world's best Cassoulet! The 6-night cruise offered in 2017 between Carcassonne and Castelnaudary is along one of the most beautiful sections of the Canal du Midi and will include a daily excursion to points of interest along the way.

Lunch on board consists of a main course and dessert, cheese and fruit. This meal is light but still delicious. The main dish may be fish lightly grilled with lightly spiced noodles, salads using local ingredients or a local dish of ripe tomatoes filled with minced pork and herbs. This will be followed by fruit tarts and local cheeses. Wine is served. Dinner is a full four course meal including appetizer, entree, dessert, and cheeses, with accompanying wines. Prepared by your chef and using fresh local ingredients, the cuisine is mainly French with Italian and Spanish influences.
