Cruise In Southern Burgundy On The Canal de Bourgogne, Saone River and The Canal du Centre Aboard The Ultra Deluxe Hotel-Barge ADRIENNE

SEVEN DAYS / SIX NIGHTS

The 12-passenger Adrienne is one of the most luxurious barges afloat. With handcrafted French provincial furnishings throughout, it provides six large king or twin suites, with marble bathrooms and custom-made cabinetry and armoires in rich maple. There is a beautiful salon and a dining area where guests can enjoy superb cuisine and vintage wines. The barge has a spacious canopied deck with comfortable furniture for relaxing and enjoying the picturesque views.

The Adrienne cruises in Southern Burgundy between Dijon and St. Leger-sur-Dheune, near the heart of the famous Cote-d'Or wine region on the Canal de Bourgogne, Saone River and the Canal du Centre. During your cruise you will have an opportunity to walk through the historic center of Dijon, visit the 18th century Chateau of Longecourt and 12th century Castle of Rochepot, the medieval abbey of Clos de Vougeot, and Beaune with its famous Hospice, as well as enjoy a private wine tasting and a drive through the vineyards and the rolling hills of the beautiful Burgundy countryside.

You will be greeted at the meeting point hotel in Paris and escorted via private motorcoach and high-speed train to the barge mooring in Burgundy, where you will be welcomed by your English-speaking crew. Spend the first evening becoming acquainted with your fellow passengers and enjoying your first gourmet meal on board. Each morning, your barge gets underway for the day's cruise. As it navigates the frequent locks on the canal, you can step directly ashore for a leisurely stroll along the canal towpath or take one of the barge's bicycles to explore the quaint villages nearby. Or simply relax on the sundeck and watch the every-changing scenery slowly go by. During the day, you will also be taken on an excursion via private motorcoach to a nearby point of interest. The itinerary has been created to provide a sampling of the region ... romantic castles, historic towns, and vineyards for wine tasting. At certain chateaux and estates, your tour may be conducted by the owner, whose family has been in residence for generations. Your Captain will also arrange for you to enjoy special local events which might occur during your cruise, such as the lively farmers' markets. As an option, you may also be able to take a hot air balloon flight, depending on the location and the weather.

Passenger Comments:

The high points were waking up every morning knowing that it would be full of great food, great wine, great company and fantastic service. As far as the excursions, I enjoyed the Count and his chateau as well as the mustard tasting and meeting Anna's mother. Meeting and enjoying local people is something you only find with close friends. It was a joy to meet the locals.
L & L.G., CA, USA, July 2014

The captain listened to our comments and added things to the excursions making it extra special. Examples: 1) Someone asked about different kinds of mustards while in Dijon. Anna organized a shop to host us for a mustard tasting. 2) Someone mentioned that they were very interested in the historical castles and especially the kitchens. Anna arranged for us to visit a chateau owned by a friend of hers that had a restored 15th century kitchen in it.
B. R., NC, USA, July 2014

Wonderful trip. We'd love to do it again! The meals and wine were far beyond our expectations!!! Outstanding! Fabulous chef! His creativity and skill are amazing. The excursions were very good. We liked the flexibility we had about what we wanted to see and how much time we wanted to take doing it.
R.T., TX, USA, October 2013

The barge and our cabin exceeded our most optimistic expectations. The personalized visits to small shops, vineyards and a 'living' chateau which provided us unique opportunities to meet and visit with charming, local inhabitants. The dinner at a 3-star Micheline restaurant. Very elegant presentation but not comparable in menu or service to any of those we had on the barge.
